Greetings and Salutations One and All! I hope you have all had a wonderful week this week! It’s been busy busy busy on my end hence less blog entries then usual! But it’s all good! Change is not always a bad thing! We are growing and loving the ride!

We have got an amazing guest this week! Our first musician! MICHAEL ON FIRE! Spirit brought this man to me late last year, I have followed his work since! He is ecclectic and real and combines old and new ways into the words and the infusions of his musical styles and instruments. Truly unique and spiritual it will absolutely touch your heart.

Here is a little bit about our guest…..

Michael on Fire

From the time he first picked up a guitar, at the age of 11, Michael on Fire, knew that his path and purpose was making music, and he has remained true to that calling, having lived his life as an original artist.

He grew up in Detroit, where, in the 1970s, his early band, Old Buck, was a frontrunner of Country Rock music. They quickly established themselves as a regional favorite and performed steadily on a circuit of clubs, colleges and festivals in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Canada, with occasional coast-to-coast jaunts as well.

During that same time, Michael was hired on as an arranger, “song doctor” and studio musician for Groovesville Music, working at the historic United Sound Recording Studios with legendary music Producer Don Davis. Davis arranged for Old Buck to record with the renowned Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which played on many of the most important rock, soul and country music records ever made.

After a stint touring with Jango Edwards and the Friends Roadshow (for whom he co-wrote the international hits “Bicycle Seat,” and “American Boys”) Michael then formed the popular progressive music group, Prismatic, which released a trio of records, and performed 350 days a year for five consecutive years, including performances at The Montreaux International Jazz Festival, and shows with some of the most brilliant artists working in the field of jazz and progressive music.

In the ‘80s, Michael relocated to Los Angeles, where he attracted many top-notch players into his band, and started performing under the name Michael on Fire – six nights a week, all original music. He quickly developed a fervent following, and the list of luminaries who regularly showed up at his performances reads like a music and entertainment Hall of Fame. His first record under the new moniker, Pre-Dawn Chronicles, was released on the MCR Music label, and was co-produced by Michael, Stephen Stills and Joe Vitale.

The live CD, Commanche Moon, which critics called a “folkish, bluesy, country, tribal, gypsy rock and roll,” followed and was named one of the Top 10 records of the year in an L.A. Times critic’s poll. Following the release of that record, Michael on Fire began a period of intense roadwork.

Performing sometimes in a full-band format, sometimes as a trio, and sometimes as a solo artist, Michael on Fire spent the next dozen years touring unendingly through every nook and cranny of the United States, in every kind of environment – from bars to beautiful theaters, private homes to major outdoor festivals, from the rowdy to the reverent, from playing in prisons to performing for the President of the United States. He released eight CDs, all of which expressed his musical vision and garnered critical acclaim.

Along the way, Michael has also created an extensive body of music for film, stage and television, and for the past 12 years his original instrumental holiday music has been the most played music during the holiday season on The Weather Channel.

On his newest CD, the artist, the dreamer, the lover, the fool, Michael successfully fuses the elements cherished and appreciated by his fervent following of friends and fans – soulful singing, penetrating lyrics, mysticism, storytelling, passionate delivery and outstanding musicianship – presented in a coherent and highly listenable artistic journey that makes apparent the soul – of the artist, the dreamer, the lover, the fool.

In Jan. 2010, The Ventura County Star (Ventura, CA) named his performance from Oct. 2009 as one of the Top Five Concerts of the Year (others named included: Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Paul Thorn and Steve Poltz.)

Michael on Fire is so good you’ll be searching for new adjectives to describe it. He’ll make you laugh, cry, see God and tap your feet – all at once.

– Bill Locey, The Los Angeles Times
